LA Building Rules: COIs, Loading Docks, and Elevator Windows
LA buildings run on three things: the COI, the dock schedule and the freight elevator window. Here is how to get all…
Read the guideThe honest answer to the most common question we hear — what will my move cost — is that the price is decided before the truck rolls, by facts anyone can write down in ten minutes: how much is moving, how many stairs and how hard the access is, how far the truck can park from your door, and when you need to be out. In Los Angeles, two more factors join the list: the traffic windows between addresses and the building rules at either end. Get the facts right and the written estimate is the number you actually pay.
| Move type | What usually decides the price |
|---|---|
| Studio or one-bedroom apartment | Elevator window, parking and stairs; the crew is small and the day is short |
| High-rise handoff, downtown or Westside | Dock schedule, COI paperwork and the freight elevator window |
| Family home with garage | Full volume plus yard and garage gear; crew sized to the load |
| Hillside home | Steep carries and measured routes; the crew is sized for the climb |
| Piano or specialty move | Equipment, measured route and the individual protection plan |
Write down the facts: inventory, access, carry distance, date. Then call. A written estimate from us lists the crew, the window, the protection plan and the route — so the number you approve is the number that shows up on moving day.
Local moves are priced by the hours and crew size your inventory actually needs, stated in a written estimate before anything is booked.
Mid-week, mid-month. Weekends and month-ends are the busiest and often carry a premium. Traffic is lighter on those days too.
They change the plan — and the hours. A cross-town leg planned at rush hour costs more time than the same leg at 10 a.m., and the estimate reflects the route we will actually drive.
Usually one of the facts changed — more inventory, a hillside carry nobody mentioned, a building rule or a tighter window. We update the estimate in writing when the facts change, never on move day.
Tell us where you're headed and we'll build the plan around your addresses, your dates and the access at both ends.

The long-distance move - went smoothly and communication was somewhat disjointed but in the end worked out.
The crew did an exceptional job with our local residental move today. They were on time and extremely efficient while taking great care of each piece of furniture! Highly recommend them and would definitely use them again. Angela T.
The crew were AWESOME! We moved on a stormy day, tornado sirens blaring. This crew had the best vibes all day long! They were funny, kind, and took excellent care of our things.
Have to say. . . Our move was out of state. The following are a few observations; Very Professional, Considerate of time, Very willing to help with extra placement/location of furniture. Over all highly recommend. Special Thanks to the crew who worked together like “ ‘Peas and Carrots’ “ ! This move which was in 100’ weather went as smooth and timely as possible. Thanks to Eagle One Movers and the guys. Nicely done! And Thank You! Highly Recommend!!!!
The crew were amazing! I cannot say enough good things about them. We really appreciate them. They took great care of my mom! Thank you so much! I will definitely recommend Eagle One Movers and this crew especially!!!💕
While Eagle One Movers did a great job with my move, my experience getting them to handle resulting damage has not been great. They have not responded to my calls or emails, didn't respond to a complaint I filed with a consumer complaint organization and even removed my post from their social media page. Damage happens; it's how you handle it that counts. Thus far, Eagle One Movers has failed miserably in that department and I now have no choice but to file a complaint with the appropriate state regulator and see if they will intervene.
